Building Information Modeling, BIM for short, is a new approach to planning buildings and civil structures. It is the next stage in the evolution of classical civil construction planning using 2-D and 3-D data. The core element of planning when applying the BIM methodology is a smart 3-D model that is directly linked to a database and, alongside the geometrical CAD data, also contains all technically relevant information on structural elements. This data structure is set up right from the first planning phase and, as planning proceeds, it is fleshed out and supplemented so that virtually all information on the structure can be transferred, via the BIM model, to the user, construction contractors and planning engineers. At Fichtner Bauconsulting, such smart data models are prepared with the aid of Autodesk Revit.
We use BIM (Building Information Modeling) to optimize your buildings from planning and construction through to building management. BIM enables us to make well-informed statements about qualities, prices and quantities at all times and across all technical disciplines (architecture and planning, structural engineering, infrastructure and transportation, technical building services, and fire protection). Integral, simultaneous planning on the core model enables problems such as collisions to be identified and corrected during the planning phase.
